This is a celebration for our Chamorro people, language, history, and traditions. We ask all attendees to observe the following rules and etiquette to ensure a respectful, safe, and enjoyable festival for everyone.

1. Show Respect for Culture & Elders

- Treat all cultural practitioners, elders (manåmko’), performers, and speakers with respect.

- Remain quiet and attentive during prayers, chants, storytelling, and traditional ceremonies.

- Ask permission before touching cultural items, instruments, or regalia.

2. Dress & Behavior

- Show your Chamorro pride, but dress comfortably

- Clothing with offensive language, imagery, or symbols is not permitted.

- Public intoxication, disruptive behavior, or harassment of any kind will not be tolerated.

3. Photography & Video

- Photography and video recording are welcome unless otherwise indicated.

- Always ask permission before photographing individuals, especially elders or children.

- Some ceremonies or displays may be restricted—please honor posted signs and staff instructions.

4. Festival Grounds Rules

To ensure safety, accessibility, and fairness to vendors:

- No outside canopies/tents and picnic umbrellas are allowed on festival grounds.

- No outside food, drinks, or beverages are permitted.

- No tailgating in parking areas or surrounding spaces.

Please respect all designated areas and posted signage.

5. Support Local & Cultural Vendors

- Please be respectful when visiting vendor booths and displays.

- Do not touch or handle items unless invited to do so.

- Support local artisans, food vendors, and cultural practitioners whenever possible.

6. Food & Cleanliness

- Dispose of trash properly and help keep the festival grounds clean.

- Respect designated eating areas.

- Be mindful of food lines and share space kindly with others.

7. Children & Families

- Children must be supervised at all times.

- Encourage children to be respectful during performances and ceremonies.

- Hands-on activities are welcome where designated—please follow instructions.

8. Animals

- Your pets are welcome!

- Ensure animals are leashed, well-controlled, and respectful of crowds and performances.

- Please clean up after your pets.

9. Follow Staff & Volunteer Guidance

- Festival staff and volunteers are here to help—please follow their directions.

- Emergency procedures and safety guidelines must be observed at all times.

10. Honor the Spirit of Chamorro Day

- Chamorro Day is about respect, community, and pride in our heritage

- Come with an open heart, a willingness to learn, and a spirit of unity.

 

We thank you and appreciate for your attendance because without you there cannot be a Chamorro Day Festival celebration.
